Whiddy Island - Oileán Faoite
Whiddy Island is at the eastern end of Bantry Bay and is accessible from the pier which is approximately 1 kilometre from the town centre. It boasts number of historical buildings and interesting walks from which one will get unsurpassed views towards Glengarrif and the hugh Cara Mountains on the beara Peninsula. The Island population is 16 approx but increases during the summer months. There is a Fáilte Ireland information Office in Bantry Square and the ferry operator will also be happy to advise regarding amenities.
